Design Intent.

This loft bed desk combination is designed to be the ultimate live and work space for an Architectural Engineering student. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, students no longer have access to studio spaces and are instead working from their bedrooms, whether in a dorm space or in a family home. Our design has two aims. The first is to act as an all-in-one drafting, CAD, sketching, and study space for an Architectural Engineering student. The second is to act as a redesign of the UWP residence furniture layout, which in its current iteration is cramped, uncomfortable, poorly lit, and lacking in storage space. The design combines a loft bed design with a L-shaped workspace, which physically separates work and leisure spaces and creates more open space in the room. Multiple types of storage are uincluded to minimize the need to purchase supplemental stroga solutions. It also comes with a movable cabinet that can be securely stored within the desk, for easy access to drafting and modelling materials.
